Maxine’s Obituary Maxine Ruth Boykin Story, age 92, of Burkburnett passed away Thursday, January 24, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2019 at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett with Rev. Joe Coombes officiating.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 6 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2019 at Owens and Brumley Funeral Home in Burkburnett. Maxine was born on January 15, 1927 in Miles Texas. She grew up on a farm, worked in a photography lab, and then joined the Women’s Army Corps.

In the military, she met Ralph Story, and they were married December 2, 1950, and the union brought four children -Annette, Randy, Brian, and Jeff. Maxine remained a homemaker for many years, later working at Gibson’s in Burkburnett. She also volunteered for the Red Cross.

Maxine was a member of First Baptist Church of Burkburnett, and had resided there for over forty years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ralph; son Jeff; sisters Billie Doris Curry, and Earline McBride; and brothers Jackie Boykin, and James Boykin. Maxine is survived by daughter Annette Barfield and husband Lannas of Wichita Falls; sons Randy Story of Stephenville, and Brian Story of Burkburnett; grandchildren Tamara Barfield, Lannas Jason Barfield and wife Lauren, John Story, and Kerri Story; great-granddaughters Eleanor, Holland, and Margot Barfield; niece Rhonda Metcalf of Lake Frederick, Virginia; and nephew Greg McBride of Washington, D.C. The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the staff of Hospice for their kind and loving care at the end of Maxine’s life.
