Melba Jean Gilliam, age 92 of Goodlettsville, TN passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at her residence. Arrangements entrusted to Austin & Bell Funeral Home Greenbrier. The family will receive friends 10am to 12pm on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Austin & Bell Funeral Home Greenbrier.

The funeral service will follow at 12pm at the funeral home with her nephew Don Oaks officiating. Burial will follow in the Dodson Chapel Cemetery in Cookeville, TN at 3pm. She was born in Nashville, TN on July 6, 1926 to the late Chalmer Eunice and Birdie McClain Oaks.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Henry Harold Gilliam. She was a devoted wife and house keeper and worked as a bookkeeper for 47 years at Genesco. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Great-nephews will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to her favorite charity, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Online condolences may be made at www.
