OBITUARY Melvin A. Baker Sr. July 29, 1945 – January 7, 2019 Melvin A. Baker Sr., 73, of Louisville, entered into Heaven on Monday, January 7, 2019 surrounded by his family. He was a family man, loved spending time with the kids and pestering the grandchildren. As well as an Outdoorsman, always camping, hunting and fishing in his free time.

He was a man that never met a stranger, he was loved by many. Born July 29, 1945 to Melvin and Geneva Baker. Melvin served in the Coast Guard from 1963 to 1967.

He retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad after 30 years of service. He was a devoted husband, father, son and brother. He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Geneva Baker; brother, Kenneth Baker; and daughter, Brenda Jean Arnold.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sheila Baker; sons, John J. Baker (Barbara), Melvin A. Baker Jr. (Amanda), Kenneth M. Baker, Gregory J. Baker, and Kevin L. Riehle; daughter, Gwendolyn A. McCarley (Troy); brothers, George Henson and William R. Hunt Sr. (Linda); sister, Barbara J. Gilley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him very much. The visitation will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 4-8pm at Evergreen Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 12pm in Evergreen Dignity Memorial Chapel.

Memorial Donations in Melvin’s name can be made to Norton Cancer Institute or Hosparus Care. FAMILY He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Geneva Baker; brother, Kenneth Baker; and daughter, Brenda Jean Arnold. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Sheila Baker; sons, John J. Baker (Barbara), Melvin A. Baker Jr. (Amanda), Kenneth M. Baker, Gregory J. Baker, and Kevin L. Riehle; daughter, Gwendolyn A. McCarley (Troy); brothers, George Henson and William R.
