Mildred Simko, 92, of Niles, formerly of Newton Falls, passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2018 at the Manor at Autumn Hills. She was born on November 28, 1925 in Amsterdam, Ohio, the daughter of Walter and Victoria (Sobczak) Wilk. Mildred attended Amsterdam High School graduating in 1943 and moved to Newton Falls in the same year.

Mildred worked at Trumbull Lamp in Warren. She and her husband George bought the Newton Falls Dairy Queen in May of 1960 and they retired in 1979. They bought a winter home in Florida in 1980 and spent 32 winters there.

Mildred and George loved to travel, traveling extensively to Alaska, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Spain, Japan, China, Brazil, Venezuela, Norway, and took 31 cruises. She was an active member of the St. Michael Byzantine Church in Newton Falls and a member of the Ladies Guild for many years. Upon the death of her husband on October 17, 2011 she made her residence at the Manor at Autumn Hills.

Mildred leaves to cherish her memory her brother Walter (Linda) Wilk, her sisters Stella (Charles) Dearth, Barbara (Patrick) McNicholas, Marian Wilk and many nieces and nephews. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, her brother Henry (Donna) Wilk and her sister Sophia (Mike) Walochik. Services are pending at this time.
