Mildred Swanson, 82, of Owensboro died Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Equality, Kentucky on February 14, 1936 to the late Ewell Hibbs and Lydia Williams Hibbs. Mildred was a strong Christian and a devoted grandparent who loved spending time with her family.

She also enjoyed quilting. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, David J. Swanson; siblings, Helen Osborne, Lucille Burden, Laura Glogowski Faulkner, Ewell “Buddy” Hibbs, and Thomas Hibbs; two great-grandchildren, Alexzandra and Hunter Glass; and a son-in-law, Jim Clayton. Survivors include her children, Libby Clayton Petroff and her husband, Gary, of Lake Villa, IL, Bobby Swanson of Chicago, IL, Scott Swanson of Owensboro, Sharon Swanson of Owensboro, and Chris Zawistowski and her husband, Tom, of Antioch, IL; a brother, Larry Joe Hibbs and his wife, Rose, of Evansville, IN; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild on the way; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
