Obituary for Lenious Marie Edge Mom’s eyes were closed for days, but in the last few moments of her life, they opened. As all her daughters held her hands and looked into her gentle gray eyes, she breathed her last. And fulfilling God’s plan, Lenious Marie Brown Edge, 90, of Owensboro, Kentucky, passed away at 9:04 pm on Wednesday, June 27, 2018.
Mom retired from General Electric after 30+ years. After retiring she provided a happy home daycare for her grandchildren and a delicious lunch stop for her kids, siblings, friends -whomever decided to stop by at the magic hour. Mom was a member of St. Joe & Paul Catholic Church.
While Catholic, she enjoyed attending both Catholic and Baptist services with her family, and has accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She loved Jesus; we have all heard her praying softly in the evenings in Jesus’ name. Mom enjoyed spending time with family – whether at the park – the zoo – swimming with yester years’ young grandkids or elaborate vacations with her now grown-up families.
Little kids were her favorite. Mom would play with them, make music with them – She was a happy memory maker. Love and patience were among her many virtues.
Mom was the caregiver of the family – whether it be her mom, her kids, her kids’ kids, her siblings – she was there with a smile and healing hand. With her gentle nature and spirit of giving, she found her greatest pleasure in fulfilling the needs of others. Other loves after God and family: Coming from a family blessed with much musical talent, Mom played the harmonica, piano, guitar, sang, and enjoyed yodeling.
She loved family gatherings that were always filled with sounds of music. And lastly, Mom loved flowers and nurtured many a flower bed into blazing colors. We will love and miss our mom, our grandma, our sister, our friend.
She is a child of God and has gone to claim her place in Heaven, and there she will be for eternity, and there we will be with her some day and link that chain back together again in a place where there is no separation, no pain, no sorrow – just more love than we can imagine – a place to spend forever for all our loving family that believes. So believe; join us. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Mora Brown and Donnie Lee Poole Brown, her daughter Joyce Ellen Edge, her son John Thomas Edge, her siblings Gwendolyn Wheatley, Bernice Brown, Magdalene Payne, Ermal Jennings, Hattie Brown, William Lee Brown, Jerry Brown, and James Brown.
She is survived by her children Brenda (Jerry) Simon, Linda (David) Hocker, Jeanette (Larry) Weedman, and Tammy (Gary) Schroader; her grandchildren Scott (Shelley) Simon, Audra (Michael) Foster, Jarod Simon, Aron (Brandyn) Hocker, Runae (Darren) Faulkner, Perry (Traci) Weedman, Lynette (Chris) Brown, Sherry (Matt) Rudolph, Shane (Ana) Edge, Tara Thompson, and Casandra Schroader; 23 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her siblings Vincent Brown, Letha Miller, and Rita Herzog. Services will be 10:00 am Monday, July 2, 2018, at St. Joe and Paul Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
