Karen Kelley Vessels, 60, of Owensboro, died peacefully at home surrounded by her family after a long battle with cancer on Thursday, June 21, 2018. She was born on August 30, 1957 in Daviess County, KY to Thomas E. Kelley and Olga Whittinghill Kelley. She retired from Wyndall’s Foodland as the office manager and was a member of Immaculate Catholic Church.

Karen loved spending time with her family and going on vacations to Disney World and the Smokey Mountains. She is preceded in death by her father, Thomas E. Kelley. Survivors include her husband of 41 years, John Vessels; her mother, Olga Kelley; a sister, Lisa Miller (Chris); and her nieces, Elizabeth Miller and Lydia Miller.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 25, 2018 in the Chapel at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory with Fr. John Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation is from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday with prayers at 4:00 p.m. and after 9:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301 or Owensboro Health Foundation Benefitting Mitchell Memorial Cancer Center Medication Fund, P.O. Box 22505, Owensboro, KY 42304-2505.
