Elizabeth Austin, 94, of Owensboro died Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Genesis HealthCare Owensboro Center. She was born on March 22, 1924 in Ohio County. She was a member of the former Crabtree Avenue Baptist Church, now New Life Church.

Elizabeth enjoyed listening to country music and loved life. She was preceded in death by Lee Stewart and Katie Stewart, who adopted her after her mother’s death when she was a baby; sons, Eddie “Butch” Austin and James Kelly Austin; brothers, Claude Stewart and Charlie Stewart; grandchildren, Misty Baize and Kristen Renee Cook; a dear friend, Wanda Foster; and her children’s father, Art Austin. Survivors include her children, Tony Austin, Cathy (Herbie) Cook, Gaynell (David) Webster, and Linda (Wayne) Kessenger; a daughter-in-law, Suzette Austin; grandchildren, Stacy Cook, Stephanie Cook, Jessica Austin, Jake Austin, Jennifer Webb, Jeff Austin, David Baize, Kenny Austin, Sherry Lynn Alexander, and Cynthia Crowell; several great-grandchildren; and a devoted friend, Darlene Hoagland.

Elizabeth’s family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff at Genesis HealthCare Owensboro Center for the love and care extended to her and their whole family during her time with them. Visitation will be on Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory in Owensboro.
