Morris was born on January 26, 1944 in Maud, TX to the late Obera Hill Hicks and Charles E. “Red” Hicks. He was a U.S. Marine Reserves veteran.

Morris was a talented carpenter and handyman and could truly build, fix, or make anything he could dream up. He spent many years building and fixing things for family, friends, neighbors, and strangers alike. He was an avid fisherman and football fan, and he loved being outdoors.

Morris was preceded in death by his parents and step-father, Charlie Beard; four sisters, Margaret Cigainero, Barbara Otwell Linder, Sue Burke, and Anita Tabor Roy; and two brothers, Charles Hicks and Edsel Hicks.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Greg Mowdy of Pittsburg, Kansas; two sons, Morrey Taylor of Dallas, Texas and Michael Taylor of San Antonio, Texas; one granddaughter, Meghan Srader of Rogers, Arkansas; one great-grandson, Liam Mahurin; two sisters, Rena Herrington and Lila Compton of Texarkana, Texas; three brothers, James and Sharon Hicks, Donald and Judy Hicks, and Paul Hicks of Texarkana, Texas, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends, including a special family of friends who meant so much to him, the Rumbos, and a very close friend, Jurd Weeks. Services are pending. Memorials may be made in Morris’s name to the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation.
