Obituary for Myrtle Virginia Dale Salyer ABINGDON, VIRGINIA – Myrtle Virginia Dale Salyer, 89, passed away on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at her home. She was born in Hansonville, Virginia; daughter of the late Rev. Ernest and Margaret King Dale.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Moses Salyer; two brothers and two sisters. She is survived by one daughter, Leola Mitchell and husband, James; one son, Captain Joseph Salyer (USPHS, retired); one sister, three brothers, and one sister-in-law, Reanthum Blackstone; eight adopted children, Faye Statzer, Patsy Triplett, Virgie Henson, Connie Harless, Lynn Stevens, Joyce Mann, Ralph Carty, and Kim Carty; five grandsons, John Mitchell and wife, Jasmine, Travis Mitchell and wife, Tina, DC3 Elliot Salyer (USCG) and fiancée, Julia, Pery Salyer, and Owen Salyer; one granddaughter, Katie Delp; eight great grandchildren, Kendal, Julie, Toby, Dillan, Landon, and Brooklyn Mitchell, Andrea and Aiden Hopkins; several nieces and nephews.

Committal Services and Entombment for Myrtle Virginia Dale Salyer will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Chapel of Memories, Forest Hills Memory Gardens, Abingdon, Virginia with Rev. Scotty Perkins and Rev. Fred Reynolds officiating.

Pallbearers will be Grandsons. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Valley’s Chapel Church, c/o Ann Terry, 9414 Carterton Lane, Abingdon, Virginia 24210. On line condolences may be sent to the Salyer family through our website and a video tribute may be viewed at www.
