Nancy G. (O’Donnell) Perkins, 87, of Rockport wife of Roger E. Perkins passed away peacefully on Friday morning, January 4, 2019 at Gloucester Healthcare. She was born in Melrose, MA on June 4, 1931, daughter of the late James and Lillian (Dogherty) O’Donnell. She was a graduate of Lexington High School at age 16 and also of Boston University, receiving her Associate’s degree in business at the young age of 18.

Upon graduation, she was hired as a stenographer for a brokerage firm in Boston. After moving to Rockport, she was employed at the Granite Savings Bank. Nancy is best known for all the years she was the bookkeeper for Roger’s business, the Granite Garage.

Later in life she worked for the Town of Rockport; first in the Treasurer’s Office and later in the Assessor’s Office as a clerk. In her spare time, she enjoyed long walks, boating and traveling with her husband and spending time with family. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Nancy is survived her husband of 67years, Roger E. Perkins; her daughter, June Sanfilippo and her husband Dominic all of Rockport; 2 grandchildren, Madison and Nicholas Sanfilippo. She was predeceased by her brother, James O’Donnell, Jr. Her graveside service will be held on Thursday, January 10, at 11:00 a.m. in Beech Grove Cemetery, Rockport. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend.

There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to Thatcher Island Association, PO Box 73, Rockport, MA 01966 or The American Legion Post 98, 32 Beach St., Rockport, MA 01966. Arrangements by the Greely Funeral Home, 212 Washington Street, Gloucester.
