Nelda’s Obituary Nelda Brownell, 73, of Vivian, LA passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Bro. Ben Brewster and Bro Dale Alexander.

Interment will be held at 2 pm on Monday, February 25, 2019 at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA. There will be a time of visitation from 6-8 pm on Friday, February 22, 2019 at the funeral home. Nelda was born August 27, 1945 in Shreveport, LA to Clarence Lee Barmore and Aretta Howard Barmore.

She lived in Vivian for the past 9 years after moving from Shreveport. Nelda was a member of Airline Drive Church of Christ in Bossier City, LA. She was a teacher’s aide for several years at Summerfield Elementary where she worked with special needs children.

Nelda was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who will be missed greatly by her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Jimmy Barmore and her sister Betty Colvin. She is survived by her husband of 52+ years Dale Brownell of Vivian, her son Howard “Howie” Brownell and wife Robin of Vivian, LA, her granddaughter Victoria “Tori” Brownell, her sister Julia Annette “Pat” Williams of Collinsville, TX, and her special nieces and nephews who she considered her own, Jennifer “Nan” Williams, Leann Williams, and John, Scott, and Paul Colvin.

Honorary pallbearers are Shane Strickland, Kevin Dunn, Mike Lasuzzo, John Colvin, Scott Colvin, Paul Colvin, Jimmy Jeter, and all the members, current and retired, of the Shreveport and Vivian Police departments, Shreveport Fire Department, Caddo Fire District 8, North Caddo Ambulance, and 911 Call Center employees.
