Ordean Holerud, 84, of Onslow passed away on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Manor Care in Dubuque, Iowa. A graveside service will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Wyoming Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at the Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming, Iowa.

Lahey and Dawson Funeral Service is caring for the family at this time. Ordean served faithfully and honorably in the United States Marines. He worked at Vincent Metals for over 30 years and after retirement he worked for Hayden Funeral Homes.

For two terms he served as the mayor of Onslow. He loved serving his country. community, God and everyone he came in contact with.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Shirley, children; Terry (Erin) Holerud, Susan (Bob) Gilley, Jeff (Melinda) Unger, Mark Holerud, Scott (Amy) Holerud, Steve Holerud, Tracy (Todd) White, step-children; Steve (Wanda) Bahnsen, Kevin Bahnsen, Brenda (Dennis Miller) Bahnsen, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sisters; Carol (Roland) Holt, Alvera (Steve) Hlavac, brother Arlen (Bev) Holerud and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother Myrtle, father Marvin and sister Myrna. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family in his honor.
