Pamela’s Obituary Pamela “Pam” B. Forbes, 77, of Bluemont, VA, passed away January 16, 2019, after battling cancer. She is survived by her children Scott, Jessica and Ken Mason (Mark); grandson Cyrus Youngman and his wife Joanie; brother and sister-in-law Ross and Sharon Beckjord; in-laws John and Cheryl Forbes, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Jim; her parents, Phil and Maggie Beckjord; and brothers, Peter and Cedric.

An accomplished illustrator, painter and tile artist, Pam’s interest in the visual arts began as a child and grew and matured with her throughout her lifetime. Pam and Jim began raising their family in College Park where she completed her degree in Elementary Art Education at the University of Maryland. The family settled in Loudoun County in 1977 and she began working for the library, driving the Bookmobile.

She loved books as much as she loved art and her work was influenced by the many vistas she saw while traveling around the County. Pam enjoyed many years on Sweet Chaos Farm with Jim, their “Toy Farm and Petting Zoo” in Western Loudoun, where she raised horses, dairy and cashmere goats, sheep, chickens, dogs and cats, and provided habitat for many wild critters and shelter and entertainment for many humans. She leaves behind innumerable loyal friends, colleagues, and amateur and professional artists around the world.

A celebration of her art and life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a local animal shelter or public broadcasting system.
