Paul A. Meier, age 71, of Oconto, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, following a 3 ½ year pancreatic cancer diagnosis. Paul was born in Neenah on June 16, 1947 to the late Arnold and Phyllis (Schroeder) Meier. After graduating high school, Paul proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy working as a machine repairman on an aircraft carrier from 1965 to 1968.

He attended Lakeland College later in life, always believing in lifelong learning. Paul worked many jobs as engineer/project manager, most recently at Gulfstream until his retirement. In June of 1996, he was united in marriage to Jacci Dettman, and the couple have enjoyed 22 years together.

Paul loved to golf, explore waterfalls, and work in the yard at his retirement home on the river. He also enjoyed traveling – especially to Lake of the Clouds and participating in golf outings. Paul will be missed by his loving wife Jacci, Oconto; daughter Stephanie (Ken) Barrette, VA, and their two sons Maxwell and Patrick; step-daughter Breanna (Greg) Cychosz, Stevens Point, and their daughter Quinnlynn; step-son Jeremiah (Tiffany Farley) Dettman, Appleton; 4 brothers: Arnold S. (Denise Ohm) Meier, Rhinelander, Roy (Char) Meier, Lena, Bruce (Deanna) Meier, Appleton, and Allan (Denise Lornson) Meier, Pickerel Lake; 2 brothers-in-law: Jim (Marge) Clark, Green Bay and John (Judy) Clark, Appleton; 2 sisters-in-law: Julie (Chris) Kilsdonk, Kaukauna, and Jane (Joe) Coenen, Wrightstown.

He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Paul was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held at 7 pm on Friday, January 18, at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Nickel Funeral Chapel with Deacon Gib Schmidt officiating.

Friends may visit at the funeral chapel on Friday from 4 pm until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. The family would like to thank Froedert Hospital, Dr. Tassaldar and the dedicated staff at Bellin Cancer Center for the compassionate care shown to Paul, and to their caring neighbors who always looked out for them.
