Phyllis E. Bertin, 90, of Muncy, passed on peacefully on Monday, July 16, 2018 at UPMC Susquehanna, Williamsport surrounded by family. She was born in Muncy, August 13, 1927, a daughter of Herman and Jennie (Maust) Pegg. She graduated from Muncy High School in 1945 and had worked at Bryfogle’s Flowers, Muncy and in Employee Childcare at Divine Providence Hospital, Williamsport.

So much of what made Phyllis who she was and what she contributed to life and the lives of others is simply immeasurable and impossible to include here, though it’s clear her greatest joys in life were her faith and time spent with family. Among her many pleasures were volunteering at her church, the Muncy Library and the Skilled Nursing Unit at Muncy Valley Hospital. She had been an avid reader and her love of music took her to many concerts, and of course, there were the numerous trips to Knoebel’s as she loved the carousels and the organ music there.

She looked forward to the Friday mornings spent with “the gang” at Dunkin Donuts, eating out with friends and family, and to her a balanced diet was having a cookie in each hand! Surviving her are her son and daughter-in-law, Dana E. and Rebecca L. Bertin, of Muncy; her daughter and son-in-law, Donna R. and Ricky F. Campbell, of Montoursville, and a grandson, Kyle D. Bertin, of Milton, his fiancée, Melanie Stump and her two daughters, Makala and Macie. Also surviving her are the extended family she loved, the countless friends that she so cherished, her church family she had such affection for, her neighbors that were dear to and availed themselves to her, and the many others she felt so blest to have shared her life with.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene P. Bertin, his two brothers, Harry and Donald Pegg, and three sisters, Glovene Frey, Ruth Pegg, and Nola Myers. In keeping wish her wishes, there will be no services. Memorial contributions in Phyllis’s name can be made to her church, the First United Methodist Church, 602 South Market St. Muncy, PA 17756 or to the Muncy Public Library, 108 South Main St. Muncy, PA 17756.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. DiSimone and to the caregiving staff in Recovery and the ICU Unit at UPMC Susquehanna who remained steadfast by Phyllis’s side, providing exhaustive care and compassion and to sister Gabriel who was a rdzt/ of strength, support, and spiritual comfort. When revisiting times spent with Phyllis, may they bring a smile to your face and as she would always say…be kind to each other, stay active, and KEEP ON WALKING! There is much to be gained just by taking a walk…down the lane or to places loved best…for a walk never fails to bring real peace of mind… and renewed strength to weather each test… we can see many things just by taking a walk… things that otherwise don’t come in view… yes, a jaunt down the lane will awaken a gain… all the dreams and the hopes we pursue… a God-given pleasure most of us enjoy…by ourselves, with a dog or a friend… and the cost of the fun is a very slight one… only time is the thing that we spend… yes, I always find joy when I’m jogging along… and it matters not where I may go… I have walked off a great deal of woe.

—by Ben Burroughs The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.
