On December 27, 2018, Rachel L. Johnson, 79, was perfectly healed when she passed peacefully into the presence of her Creator and Savior in Heaven while at Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton. Rachel was born September 15, 1939, in Wattsburg, PA, to the late Floyd and Dorothy Tanner. She graduated from Wattsburg High School in Wattsburg, PA, and went on to Buffalo Bible Institute in Buffalo, NY.

She also worked full time for many years at the Greenville Area Public Library, Greenville, PA, and at the Centennial Library on the campus of Cedarville University in Cedarville, OH. When not serving the public, she cared for and loved her family well. She enjoyed walks with her husband, reading, canning and freezing fresh fruits and vegetables, baking pies, and making jam.

She loved preserving family memories through scrapbooking. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, their children, and their grandchildren, all surviving. Her husband is Don Johnson, of Cedarville, OH.

Together, they had four children: Rod (Debbie) Johnson of Cedarville, OH; Eric (Shelley) Johnson of Xenia, OH; Carla (Brad) Gregory of Danville, IN; and Brenda (John) Young of Wapakoneta, OH. She loved spending time with her grandchildren: Carissa (Matt) Cloyd of Centerville, OH, and son Jeff; Paul and Mark Johnson of Xenia, OH; William and Emma Gregory of Danville, IN; and Andrew, Jonathan and Titus Young of Wapakoneta, OH. Also surviving are her brothers Charles Tanner, Wattsburg, PA, Robert Tanner, Bemus Point, NY, and sister-in-law Cindy Lent, Wattsburg, PA.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Raymond Tanner, of Wattsburg, PA. She was a member of Southgate Baptist Church, Springfield, OH. Family and friends will gather in her honor at Southgate Baptist Church on Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. We will celebrate her life at Southgate Baptist Church on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Pastors Bobby Hile and Louie Showers will officiate.

Interment will be immediately following at North Cemetery in Cedarville, OH. Memorial donations may be made to Cedarville University Centennial Library, 251 N. Main St., Cedarville, OH 45314.
