Obituary for Ray McCoy Ray McCoy, 87 of Hurricane passed away Saturday January 5, 2019. Born November 28, 1931 in Wayne County, WV, Ray was a son of the late Lonnie and Olive McCoy. In addition to his parents, Ray was also preceded in death by his siblings, Marie Allen and Bill McCoy.

Ray served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War as a medic. He also retired from Union Carbide as a construction superintendent with many years of faithful service. Ray McCoy was one of the good guys; he was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.

He was dedicated to his family and worked hard to provide for them. To Ray there was no place like West Virginia. He loved traveling, hunting and fishing throughout his beloved state.

He was also an early conservationist before it became popular, planting trees at his home in the mountains and throughout the woods he hunted. Ray is survived by his loving wife, Janis McCoy; his children, Debbie Fisher (Bob) of South Carolina, Kim Taylor (Walt) of Nitro and Kevin McCoy (J. Jaye) of Scott Depot; four grandchildren, Joshua, Nathaniel, Ashleigh and Tyler and four great-grandchildren, Madison, Bryce, Taylor and Hayden.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00pm Saturday January 12, 2019 at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to HospiceCare.
