Obituary for Raymond C Johnson Raymond C. Johnson, 85 – of Joliet, peacefully passed away May 26, 2018 at home after a courageous battle with lymphoma. Born on December 18, 1932, the son of Hjalmar and Gladys Johnson. Left to cherish his memory are his daughters Karla (Bruce) Farr, Karen (Stephen) Holland and son David W. (Sandra) Johnson.

Grandchildren Brett Farr (Jahsalynn Matz), Kyle Farr (Dannie Zebrauskas), Leigh Farr, Brian Holland (Yeshani Wijesekara). Laura Holland, Kimberly Holland, Sara Johnson; a sister Karen Votara and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his wife of 61 years – Joan K. and brothers Don Johnson and Robert Johnson.

Ray was a man who loved life. He retired from Caterpillar after 36 years of employment. He enjoyed sharing his woodworking skills with others.

His woodworking projects appear in many home and children’s toy boxes. He was a member of the DuPage Woodworkers to which he donated over 300 wooden toys last year. He also donated wooden toys to Lurie’s Children’s Hospital at Silver Cross Hospital.

Ray and his buddies, Ron Berg and David Fisk, designed and constructed many sets for Joliet East operettas. He was also a member of the Rialto Stagehands- IATSE Local 124 where he built items for the stage and offices. In his spare time he enjoyed spending time fishing and hunting.

Funeral services will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home & Crematory, 2320 Black Road, Thursday, May 31, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials in his name to the DuPage Woodworkers or the Rialto Stagehands would be appreciated. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 4 -7 PM.
