Raymond H. Riddle, Jr., of Hanover, PA, died Sunday, May 6, 2018 at Homewood at Plum Creek Nursing Center. Born October 3, 1928 he was the son of the late Raymond H. and Blanche T. (Wine) Riddle and the step-son of the late Naomi Riddle. Raymond was the husband of the late Betty J. (Krug) Riddle who died September 17, 1991.

Mr. Riddle retired from American Chain & Cable Company in York, PA, having worked as a receiving clerk with over thirty years of service. He was a member of the United Steel Workers Union and the Hanover Moose Lodge #227. Raymond was a veteran of the United States Army, serving his country proudly during the Korean War, earning a Combat Infantryman Badge, a Korean Service Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, and the United Nations Service Medal.

Mr. Riddle was a member of Hanover Church of the Brethren. Raymond loved the outdoors and was an avid small game hunter. He had an appreciation for horses.

He enjoyed ballroom dancing and stamp collecting. He was a thinker and took great delight in the many visits with his daughter-in-law, Eileen F. Riddle. Raymond is survived by his children Victor R. Riddle of McSherrystown, PA, and Dawn L. Zepka of New Oxford, PA; one grandchild, Juliet E. Sharrow; three great grandchildren, Alex, Brock and Connor; a brother, Barry Riddle of Hanover, PA; and a sister, Judy Strait of Harrisonville, PA.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lois Riddle and Nancy Warner. A funeral service will be held to celebrate and remember Raymond 11:00 AM, Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA, with Pastor Leah Yingling officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, with Military Honors provided by the Hanover Veterans Honor Guard Burial Detail.

A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:00-11:00 AM, Monday, May 14, 2018 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Raymond’s name to the Benevolent Care Fund at Homewood at Plum Creek, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331. The Kenworthy Funeral Home, Inc., 269 Frederick Street, Hanover, PA has been entrusted by the family with the funeral arrangements.
