Obituary for R.E. “Gene” Gray Reuben Eugene Gray was born on June 24, 1931 in Hill County, Texas to the Mother and Father, Audra Mae Lewis and Reuben Samuel Gray, He departed this life on Monday, April 9, 2018 at Dignity Senior Care in San Antonio, Texas. Reuben Eugene Gray always said he married at a young age to the most beautiful woman in the world, Vara Christine Ramey, and knew he was going to marry her the first time he ever laid eyes on her. They married July 27, 1951.

Reuben loved animals of every shape and size. He worked as a mechanic on planes and heavy equipment. He also served in the Korean War.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Vara Gray; his full-of-life grandson; his caring sister and several brothers. Reuben is survived by his children, Vanessa Gray Clark and husband David Clark, Gina Lynn Gray Beck and husband Malcolm Beck, and only son, Christopher Eugene Gray and wife Linda Gray; eleven grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 17, 2018, 9:00am-11:00am, at Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia, Texas.

FUNERAL SERVICE Tuesday, April 17, 2018 11:00am Finch Funeral Chapel, La Vernia Burial will follow at Sutherland Springs Cemetery in Sutherland Springs Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Eugene’s name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, www. alzfdn.org.
