Rebecca A. Hampton, 60, of Owensboro, died on Monday, January 21, 2019 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. She was born March 24, 1958 in Jefferson County, KY to Rev. Henry L. Coons, Jr. and Virginia Neighbors Coons.

She retired as a teacher’s assistant from Owensboro Board of Education and was a member of Crosspointe Baptist Church. Rebecca loved volunteering at schools, working with kids and making crafts. But most of all, she loved her family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Henry L. Coons, Jr. Survivors include a son, Matthew James Hampton of Owensboro; mother, Virginia Coons of Owensboro; foster son, Brian Gold (Ashley); two brothers, Robert Coons (Deborah) of Whitesville and Tim Coons of Evansville, IN; four nieces; one nephew; and many great-nieces and nephews. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory.

Burial will follow in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation is from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and after 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Puzzle Pieces, 1512 Frederica Street, Owensboro, KY 42301.
