Richard J. Arcelaschi, age 79, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018. He was the husband of Deloris (Kearby) Arcelaschi. He was born August 13, 1939 in Winsted, CT to the late Angelo and Helen (Bowen) Arcelaschi.

He attended Gilbert School in Winsted and served four years in the Navy and five years in the Coast Guard. After serving his country, he worked as a pressroom operator and supervisor for the Hartford Courant for 36 years before opening his own print shop, Minuteman Press in… Read More » Torrington, which he owned and operated for 16 years before retiring in 2012. He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and loved the UCONN Women’s Basketball team, never missing a game.

He loved reading, crossword puzzles and vacationing in Ocean City, MD. In addition to his loving wife of 48 years, he is survived by his son Richard J. Arcelaschi, Jr of Agawam,MA, daughter Karen Scattergood and her husband Jed of Torrington, CT. He also leaves behind his four grandsons, Joe and Tom Arcelaschi of Agawam, MA and Jack and Luke Scattergood of Torrington, CT.

He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Nancy Arcelaschi and Celeste Arcell, 9 nephews, one niece and countless extended family. He is predeceased by his three brothers Andrew, Anthony, John, sister Marguerite, his sister-in-law Isabella Arcell, brother-in-law Robert “Bob” Ransford, and nephew Andrew. Friends may call on Sunday, October 21, 2018 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, 922 Main Street, Winsted from 2 – 4 pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Church, Winsted at 10 am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Winsted with full Military Honors. Visit an online guestbook at Montano-shea.com.
