He was born June 3, 1943, a native of Gaston County, the son of the late Fred Brown and Lula MacMahan Brown. Richard was a retired United States Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War.

He loved fishing and hunting. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wives, Patsy Brown and Annette Brown; siblings, Rachel Penland, Fred “Junior” Brown, Perry Brown, Judy Haney, Irene Poole, Mable Layel and Lucille Ervin. He is survived by his daughters, Tracy Lynn Brown, and Danielle Marie Trite and husband, Joe; grandchildren, Richard “Richie” Phillip Brown, Joseph Marshall Trite Jr., Raleigh Alexander Trite and Devin Robert Trite.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at Greene Funeral Service – South Chapel, 1503 S. York Rd. , Gastonia, officiated by the Rev. Sam Barnette.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Gaston Memorial Park with full military honors by the US Army. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Charlotte Region, 7600 Walsh Blvd.
