Richard J. “Dick” Winchell, Sr., age 80, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, with his loving wife by his side. Richard is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bernadette “Cookie” (nee Talmadge) Winchell; children, Richard J. (Jeanne Williams) Winchell, Jr., Ronald F. Winchell; grandchildren, Nicole, Richard J. III, Raymond, Ronnie, Sean (Tori), Ryan, Nicholas, Cory Winchell; ten great-grandchildren and numerous cousins including Mary Martha Abraham. Preceded in death by his parents, Marion and Fern (nee Trotter) Winchell.

Dick was born in Joliet, a graduate of Joliet Township High School (Central Campus), a seventeen year retiree of ComEd, and a proud United States Army veteran. He was an avid bowler, golfer, loved playing the penny slots at the casino, and a tenacious attendee of all the wrestling meets and tournaments that involved his sons and grandsons. He was a true pillar who will be greatly missed by his family.

A Celebration of Richard’s life will begin on Monday, April 30, 2018 with a visitation at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services at 7:30 p.m. Cremation rites will be accorded following the services.
