Richard J. Poplawski, age 57, at rest on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 with his loving family by his side. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Linda (nee Cullen) Poplawski; daughters, Ann Marie Ballak, Tiffany (Efrain) Ballak, Suzan (Alfredo) Gonzalez; grandchildren, Armando Ballak, Christopher and Anthony Wilmoth, Heaven Gonzalez, Carlos, Alex and Nick Gomez; siblings, Ronald (Beth) Poplawski, Joann Nielsen, Theodore (Beth) Poplawski, Donald Poplawski, Mary Jane Wagman, Michael (Ann) Poplawski, June (Frank) Affrunti; god-daughters, Mary Affrunti, Kimberly Smith; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and all of his friends at his favorite local hangout, Zobel’s. Preceded in death by his parents, Frank and June (nee Grosh) Poplawski; and brothers, Patrick and Leonard Poplawski.

Rich was born on July 18, 1960 and was a lifelong Joliet resident. He was a 1978 graduate of Joliet Catholic High and a lifelong parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church where he served as an altar boy. He was employed with Joliet Schools District #86 and formerly from Sheffield Steel Mill.

Rich enjoyed playing softball and bowling, sponsored by local taverns. He was a die-hard Green Bay packers fan, a loving husband, father and best grandfather ever. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.

A celebration of Richard’s life will begin on Saturday, May 5, 2018 with prayers in the funeral home chapel at 9:20 a.m. then driving in procession to Holy Cross Catholic Church in Joliet for a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, May 4, 2018 at Tezak Funeral Home, 1211 Plainfield Road, Joliet from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Obituary and Tribute Wall for Richard J.
