Virginia Cheville, age 88, resident of Joliet, IL, went to be with her Lord on April 30, 2018 with her loving family by her side. Born on April 10, 1930 in Rockdale, IL, to John and Francis (Lukancic) Gliha. Virginia was a devoted wife and mother.
She was an employee at the Joliet Medical Group for 16 years. Virginia married Franklin Cheville (deceased) on October 27, 1951. They enjoyed 55 years of fun adventures with family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Deborah (George) Webb of South Haven, MI, Laurie (Michael) Pappas of Joliet, IL, Brian Cheville of South Haven, MI, Jeffrey Cheville of Joliet, IL. ; five grandchildren, Kristin (Eric) Massey of Sycamore, IL, Benjamin (Kelly) Webb of Atlanta, GA, Samantha (Kevin) Ortiz of Charleston, SC, Shannon (Brandon) Booher of San Antonio, TX, and Amanda (Jason) Kalivoda of Plainfield, IL; four great-grandsons, Elijah and Josiah Ortiz, Gideon Massey, and Maverick John Kalivoda; five great-granddaughters, Bella Massey, Elena Ortiz, Arden Grace and Tinley Webb, and Adelynn Booher; four nieces, Cheryl (Ron) Lang, Denise (Jack) Enger, Renee (Phil) Mumford, and Robin (Stan) Christopher. Virginia is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Franklin Cheville (2007); parents, John and Francis Gliha; sister, Mary Clemons; and brother, John Gliha.
Virginia loved life and loved being actively involved with her family. She was an avid reader, enjoyed sharing stories, and was involved in many book clubs over the year. She was a long-time member of the Grace Methodist Church in Joliet, IL.
Virginia was a genius at crossword puzzles and loved playing Words with Friends with an eclectic group of people. Some of Virginia’s last words were, “I’ve lived a wonderful life, I’ve had lots of fun with family and friends, and I wish everyone would be kind and love one another unconditionally”. Donations can be made to the Joliet Area Community Hospice or Morning Star Mission, as Virginia was appreciative of the services these organizations provide. A Celebration of Virginia’s Life will take place on Saturday, May 5, 2018 with a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Join us for a “swig of Brandy” and lunch at Virginia’s residence following the service.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Tezak Funeral Home (1211 Plainfield Road – Joliet, IL).
