Richard Machu October 11, 1980 – February 28, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Richard Frank Machu (Smokey) passed away on February 28, 2018, at his home in Macomb Illinois. Rick was born in Silvis, Illinois and attended Moline High School. He had a deep love for the Chicago Cubs and Da Bears.

His interests included Star Wars and music. As his friends and family can attest, he devoted himself to helping others – not only those he knew, but also complete strangers. He was so kind, and had the biggest heart.

He always strived to be just like his father, wanting to be just like him. His friends and family are so proud of Rick’s accomplishments and will miss him more than words can express. Rick is survived by his sister Kelly (Jeff) VanDell, brother Dan (Jennifer) Machu, and his daughters Apryl Machu and Kali Oliva.

He is also survived by his honorary parents John and Rebecca Griffith and his very special sister Jessica (Shawn) Schwass; and his step-siblings, Craig Winegar and Carla Schmidt; as well as his nieces and nephews, Alexis, Roque, Viviana, Amber, Joshua, Lilly, Kaidance, and Dylan. Rick was preceded in death by his beloved father, James A. Machu, Jr.; his grandparents, James Sr. and Veniza Machu; and Richard and Bessie Coats. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Samaritan Well, 212 West Jackson Street, Macomb, IL 61455.

Rick, you are so loved and we will carry your memory in our hearts forever, until we meet again. Rest easy.
