Schaffer, age 79, of Point Pleasant, NJ passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Jersey Shore university Medical Center in Neptune. Richard was born on April 29, 1939 in Duryea, PA to the late Albert and Nellie Schaffer. Richard proudly served his country in the US Coast Guard.

Richard worked for JCP&L as a lineman after 35 years of service. A devout Catholic, Richard was an active parishioner of St. Martha’s RC Church in Point Pleasant for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #8160, Brick Township.

Richard was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his family. Richard is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia Ann T. Schaffer and by his daughter Dawn Schaffer of Point Pleasant and by his son James Schaffer and his wife Kimberly also of Point Pleasant, one granddaughter Alyson Schaffer and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive relatives and friends for Visitation on Saturday, February 9th, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88 Brick, NJ 08724. The Funeral Mass will be offered Saturday morning beginning at 11:30AM at St. Martha’s RC Church, 3800 Herbertsville Road Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742. Cremation will be handled privately at the request of the family.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Richard’s memory to the Knights of Columbus, 1065 Cedarbridge Avenue Brick, NJ 08723.
