Richard Vincent “Dick” Griffith, 79, of Owensboro passed away Friday, March 1, 2019 at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. He was born in Sioux City, IA on July 1, 1939 to the late Vernon Ray Griffith and Goldie Leetch Griffith. Dick worked as an Underwriter for Citizens Security Life Insurance Company and then American General Finance for many years.

He was a 46-year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society and enjoyed singing in many quartets including the Cardinals and Music Mart. He competed many times on contest stage, including two international chorus championships with the Louisville Thoroughbreds and multiple appearances with the Terre Haute Banks of the Wabash Chorus. Dick was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years, Kathleen Rittmeyer Griffith, and his brother, Robert Griffith.

Dick is survived by his children Mark (Jeanie) Griffith, Melissa (Bobby) Griffith, Kelly (Kevin) Kinnett, and their mother Yvonne Hall; He is also survived by his children, Kristopher (Lori Ann) Redmon and Jennifer Conover; Nine grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and one very well-loved Shih Tzu named Keiko. Services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home & Crematory. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday, and again from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Owensboro Kentucky. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations in Dick’s name to the Harmony Foundation Intl, Inc. 110 Seventh Avenue North, Suite 200, Nashville, TN 37203. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
