Obituary for Richard Mendyka OAKVILLE – Richard W. Mendyka age 71 of Oakville, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 28, 2018 at the Apple Health & Rehab Center in Watertown. He was the husband of Claudia (Bernier) Mendyka. Mr, Mendyka was born on October 22, 1948 in Waterbury, the son of the late Walter and Jean (Hilinski) Mendyka.

He was a graduate of Crosby High School and a veteran of the US Army, National Guard Infantry Unit assigned to Fort Dix NJ. He worked as a setup operator for many manufacturing companies in the area, most recently Emerson Cos. Richard enjoyed target shooting and was an avid gun collector in his younger life.

He enjoyed playing cards spending time with his many friends and cherished dogs. He and his wife lived in both Pennsylvania and Oakville and enjoyed many years together, traveling. He will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to know and love him.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Claudia, cousins and many close friends. He was predeceased by his son, Richard J. Mendyka and his sister and brother-in-law, George and Barbara Lockwood Funeral services for Mr. Mendyka will be private and held at the convenience of his family.
