Richard Alan Shirk was born on October 18, 1939 in Salinas and passed on September 8, 2018. Richard was a man of many trades and hobbies. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cruising around the Pond-Derosa on his gator, watching old westerns and feeding animals on his property.

His generosity and compassion never failed to touch the hearts of anyone who met him. His witty sense of humor could lighten any room. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend who will be missed immensely.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Esther Shirk, and his brothers, Gary and Dennis Shirk. Richard is survived by his wife, Dianna, his three children, Denise Perez, Darien Shirk and Dena Richwine; seven grandchildren, Doug Shirk, Kasey Shirk, Clint Shirk, Chris Perez, Breanna Perez, Stephanie McCrary and Leah Brooks; great grandchildren, Alaina Shirk, Savannah Perez; and his three brothers Don Shirk, Ken Shirk and David Shirk. A Private family service will be held for Richard prior to a celebration of life for family and friends to attend at 12pm noon on Friday, September 14, 2018 at the family’s residence.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, in honor of Richard Shirk.
