Muoi Diep passed away peacefully at her home on November 21th, 2018, at the age of 82. She was born on April 29, 1936 in Cambodia and lived in Vietnam working for the U.S. Embassy. She came to United States in June 1969 and settled in Salinas.

She attended and graduated from Hartnell College, Monterey Language Institute Foreign Language, and earned a master’s degree from Stanford University. She began her professional career as instructor teaching Chinese Language and Chinese Literature courses at Hartnell College. She later worked for the Monterey County Dept.

of Social Services as a career counselor for over 16 years until her retirement in 2005. She received numerous honors and recognition for her dedication to education and mentoring. Her outside interests included gardening, reading, watching tv shows, and spending time with her family and friends.

She loved flowers, nature and birds. She often enjoyed sharing her fond memories of Vietnam and travels around the world. She lived a wonderful and full life filled with great times and people that she loved.

Muoi was not married and had no children. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Hong Tran and nephews, Dac Tran and Trach Tran. She is lovingly remembered for her strength, innate kindness, and devotion to family.

Her memory will live on in the many lives that she touched. Visitation will be held 10:00a.m. to 12:30p.m.Wednesday November 28, 2018 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.

Burial to follow 1:00p.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Garden of Memories Cemetery, 850 Abbott Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.
