Mercedes O. Martinez, 98 of Salinas passed away October 12, 2018. He was born September 24, 1920 in Texas. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church.

He arrived here in 1946 and was a Silver Smith for many years for Garcia’s Saddle Shop. Before retiring he became the owner of San Antonio Thrift Shop. Mercedes is survived by his nephew, Art Matus, 2 nieces, Irma Silvirea, Mary Matus, and 3 grandchildren, Rosemarie Cabaluna, JoAnne Castro, Alicia Perez-Younker.

Visitation will be 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis Street, Salinas, CA. 93901. A Rosary will be held 7:00p.m. Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Struve and Laporte Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00a. m Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 22 Stone Street, Salinas, CA. 93901.

Burial to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 18200 Damian Way, Salinas, CA. 93907.
