Richard C. Countryman, Sr. of Town of Newburgh entered into rest on Monday, March 5, 2018. He was 87. Son of the late Charles and Marion (Evans) Countryman, he was born on July, 7, 1930 in Walden, NY.

Richard was a retired General Contractor for Countryman Brothers Contracting, Newburgh, NY. He also proudly served his country in the US Army. Richard’s early live was devoted to his Family’s heritage of Farming.

The discipline and hard work of these early years was reflected throughout his professional life by the proficiency of his attentive work ethic and the quality of the structures he built. As a Farmer, Soldier, Builder, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and a Friend; Richard touched so many people with his gentleness, his sincerity, his love and most of all, his stories always filled with humor and his laughter. In addition to his loving companion of 32 years, Veronica “Ronnie” Jantzen of Newburgh, Richard is survived by three sons, Ralph Richmond and his wife Lynne of Hansen, MA, Richard Countryman, Jr. of Newburgh, Neil Countryman and his wife Kathi of Cameron, NC; two daughters, Shirley Rothenbusch and her husband William of Newburgh and Diana Rumsey and her husband Peter of Red Hook NY; two brothers, Merlin Countryman and his wife Carol of Newburgh and Nelson Countryman and his wife Donna of Sloansville, NY; three sisters, Doris Duch of Newburgh, Patricia Arrsate and her husband Geno of NV and Betty Smith and her husband Gary of Gainesville FL; 9 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by a son, David Spencer and also the mother of his children Mildred Countryman. Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at White, Venuto and Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Road (Rt. 32) Newburgh, NY.

A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, March 8, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Funeral Home with the Rev. Steven Sherwood officiating. Burial will follow at the Gardenertown Cemetery, Newburgh, NY.
