Therone Joseph “TJ” Eugene was born February 23, 1941 in New Orleans, LA, and was a longtime resident of the Town of Newburgh. TJ received a call on April 6, 2018, a sort of offer he couldn’t refuse, for an appointment from which he will not be returning. A last minute trip, off to a reunion with family and friends.

His new mission takes him to a wonderful place where he will be socializing, dancing, surrounded by nature and animals where he felt most comfortable. He wants all who knew him to support him on this next chapter as he’s in peace and in a better place. His attitude and energy will probably never be duplicated but living your life best as possible knowing he’s supporting you should make us smile since we shall support him.

He would want each of you to remember him the way he was with you – a brother, a friend, a confidant, and so much more. If you must cry, let it be with a smile, remembering the laughter and love he brought to all those around him. He is predeceased by his parents, Charles H. Eugene III, and Ruth Justin-Eugene; brothers Charles Eugene IV and Raoul Eugene.

Survivors include his wife Marian at home; his past wife Maggie, his brother Gerald Eugene; his children Lisa Eugene, Vanessa Dunlop, Therone Eugene, Lonnie Eugene, Nakia Welsh, Felicia Eugene and Alexander Eugene; grandchildren: Chelsea Dunlop, Alexa Eugene, Sophia Halkitis, Winston Dunlop III, Maia Eugene and Dylan Welsh. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm at White, Venuto & Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 North Plank Road (Rt. 32), Newburgh, NY.

A Funeral Service will take place at the funeral home following visitation at 7:00 pm, with Fr. John Vondras officiating. Private cremation will take place at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties, 800 Stony Brook Ct. , Newburgh, NY 12550, The Alzheimer’s Association or The American Cancer Society.
