Robert Junior Shanks was born to Robert, Sr. and Lacy M. Shanks on July 25, 1963 in Winston-Salem, NC where he was a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of East Forsyth High School Class of ’81. Shortly after graduating, Robert pursed a passion for fitness in the art of body building and perfecting his talent as a graphic artist in his leisure time.

He was employed for several years with R. J. Reynolds on the loading docks and Budd Services in the landscaping division. Robert’s journey on this earth abruptly ended Sunday, May 5, 2019 at his home. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Shanks, Sr.; mother, Lacy M. Davis-Shanks; his maternal grandmother, Rosa Davis and his identical twin brother, Rufus Shanks.

Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Roqueeta Sides (Dominique) of Charlotte, NC and Candace Evanofski of Oakland, CA; one son, Patrick Hall of Ludowici, GA; two brothers, Arthur Shanks (Michelle) of Winston-Salem, NC and Brian Shanks (Toni) of SanTan Valley, AZ; two uncles, Charles Davis (Shirley) and Rick Davis both of Winston-Salem, NC; aunt, Sharon Pickett (Clint) of Wilmington, NC; 3 grandsons: London Sides, Patrick Hall-Noel and A’din Hall; 2 granddaughters, Jadence Sides and Svetlana Hall; 3 nephews: Richard Carter (Maureen), Darius Shanks and Rufus Shanks, Jr. (Kiara); niece, Danielle Shanks and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 17, 2019 from the chapel of Roberts Funeral Service, Winston-Salem.
