Obituary for Robert Lee Holmes Robert Lee Holmes was born August 24, 1930 in Ulysses, KS and he left this world September 15, 2018. He graduated from Langdon High School. He was an excellent baseball player for Langdon, who was represented in the National Baseball Congress.

The team was coached by his father and the bat boy was his younger brother. Robert played second base and shortstop. He told us the National Baseball Congress made him an offer to play with the Chicago White Sox.

He married Florence Sherman on October 21, 1950. He was employed with Missouri Pacific Railroad, Gorham Motor Company, Triple S Equipment and Poltera John Deere. His primary occupation was mechanic and he was the man of choice for many wheat farmers.

He lived out his life in Turon, KS. He was a Little League Baseball coach and a volunteer fireman. He had a deep love and appreciation for nature and wildlife, which he passed on to his children and grandchildren.

He was especially fond of camping, fishing, and hunting. He is preceded in death by his parents Gene and Dora Holmes, brothers, Dean and Jay Dee Holmes, and son Steve Holmes. He is survived by his wife, Florence Holmes, son Ronald Holmes, daughters, Terry Holmes and Michelle “Shelly” Eichman.

He also leaves behind a sister Judy Alstatt and husband Dean; his grandchildren, Tanda Poell and husband Tony, Shawna Knoche and husband Brent, Robert Smiley and wife Kelli, Alecia Fenner and husband Levi, Richard Gullotto and wife Melissa, Jenifer Holmes, Lacey Schreck and husband Tom, Todd Smiley and wife Monica, Tagen Holmes and Stevie Holmes; his great-grandchildren, Katelyn, Chelsea, Tristan, Torynn, Trenton, Rayce, Pierce, Caiden, Connor, Kennedy, Abbilyn, Laikyn, Colton, Cash, Eric, Chase, Cammryn, Jacob, and Vlady, as well as adopted daughter, Denise Chadwick. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandpa, who was greatly loved and will be sorely missed until we all “See ya”. Friends may sign the guest book on Monday, September 17, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt, KS 67124.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pratt Church of Christ, Pratt, KS with Minister Steve Triplett officiating. Interment will follow in Neola Cemetery, Neola, KS. Condolences may be sent to www.
