Obituary for Freda Loretta Wood Freda Loretta Wood, 95, of Kingman, KS, formerly of Greensburg, KS died Friday, October 19, 2018 at Wheatlands Health Care Center, Kingman, KS. She was born on February 21, 1923 in Liberal, Kansas, the daughter of Louis Christopher Thompson and Anna Barbara (Morrison) Thompson. On August 21, 1949, she married L. W. “Bud” Wood in Perryton, TX.

He preceded her in death on September 7, 1985. Freda was a secretary for the former Rock Island Railroad, retiring after 40 years of service. She was a member of the Greensburg First United Methodist Church, the Rebekkah Lodge, and the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

She enjoyed crocheting and gardening. Surviving are one son, Billy Wood of Wichita; two nieces, Helen Bailey of Pratt, KS and Evelyn Hunt of Augusta, KS; one nephew, Charles Ridge of Cunningham, KS; good friends, Donna Hunter, Matt, Holly, and Bradyn Legg, Rich and Lisa Hicks, and Karla and Steve Shepherd; several great nieces and nephews. Freda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Fern Ridge and a great-niece, Carla Smith.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Wheatlands Health Care Center Chapel, Kingman, KS with Mike Eidem officiating. Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with family present from 5-7 p.m. at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Rd. , Pratt, KS 67124.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Liberal Municipal Cemetery, Liberal, KS with Rev. Marvin Ewertt officiating. Memorials may be made to the Kiowa County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Wheatlands Health Care Center, or Rivercross Hospice in care of Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Rd.
