Obituary for Herbert A. Durant Herbert A. Durant, 85, of Medicine Lodge, KS, died Friday October 12, 2018 at Attica Long Term Care, Attica, KS. He was born on July 12, 1933 in St. John, KS, the son of Robert Eugene Durant and Mildred Irene (McAllister) Durant. Herbert attended grade school in Stafford County and graduated from Radium High School in 1951.

He worked in the oilfields in Kansas, Colorado, and Nebraska. In 1955 he married Lillian Kaiser, they later divorced. To this union two sons were born, Robert and Russell.

In 1997, he and Norma (Dreiling) Hammerschmidt of Attica, KS were married. He was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medicine Lodge, KS and served in the U.S. Army National Guard. Surviving are his wife Norma Durant of Medicine Lodge, KS; two sons, Robert Durant of Albuquerque, NM and Russell Durant of Pratt, KS; four step-daughters, Kathy (Lonnie) Larabee of Fairview, KS, Cheryl (Joe) Rausch of Sharon, KS, Janet (Jay) Duran of Pretty Prairie, KS, and Joanne (Ronnie) Ingrassia of Kansas City, MO; Nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Lawrence Durant of Wellington, KS and Dwyre Durant of Houston, TX; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Herbert was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Max Durant, one sister, Frances Durant, and one step-son Tom Hammerschmidt. Cremation has taken place. Vigil/Rosary Service will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medicine Lodge, KS with the Memorial Mass immediately following the vigil with Father Mark Brantley officiating.

Inurnment will be at the Highland Cemetery, Medicine Lodge, KS. Memorials may be made to the Pratt Area Humane Society in care of Larrison Funeral Home, 120 E. Lincoln, Medicine Lodge, KS 67104. Condolences may be left at www.
