Obituary for Ella Edna Lake Lake City, Kansas – Ella Edna Lake, 98, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2018 in Mullinville. She was born September 22, 1919 in Aberdeen, Idaho to Henry and Anna (Kopper) Fast. In 1946, she married Russell B. Lake Jr

He preceded her in death in 1963. Ella joined the United States Army as a 2nd lieutenant in the Army Nurses Corp. She served on the hospital Ships Dogwood and HOPE in the Pacific Theater.

She worked as a nurse for over 50 years. She worked at hospitals in Wichita, Medicine Lodge and then spent 27 years at Pratt Regional Medical Center. She loved reading and when she got older began working jigsaw puzzles, knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by her children, Russel “Rusty” B. Lake III of Lake City, Deborah (Bill) Reynolds of Stark, Pamela (Robert) Crosby of Australia and Kristine (Larry) Aldrich of Mullinville; sister, Margarethe Van Zandt of Wichita; 12 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren. Ella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell; son, Gregory “Gary” Lake; and sisters, Marie Lang and Martha Fast. Visitation will be held Thursday, September 6, 2018 from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Larrison Funeral Home, 120 East Lincoln, Medicine Lodge.

Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 7, 2018 at First Christian Church in Medicine Lodge with Pastor Mike Shinkle presiding. Burial will follow at Lake City Cemetery, Lake City. Memorials may be made to Topeka Rescue Mission or Hospice of the Prairie in care of the Larrison Funeral Home.
