Robert’s Obituary Major Robert Leon Cheeves, age 69, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 18, at the chapel of Moores Funeral Home with Rev. Hayward Bass officiating.

Burial will follow in Sparta Cemetery. Major Cheeves was a life-long resident of Milledgeville. He worked for the Milledgeville Bottling Company for 15 years.

He then worked for the Milledgeville Police Department obtaining the rank of Major and retired with 31 years of service. Major Cheeves also worked for the Baldwin County Civil Defense for many years. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, watching NASCAR racing, football and baseball.

He was preceded in death by his parents Leon Adam (Peck) and Ruby Parker Cheeves. He was a member of the Baptist Faith. Survivors include his wife Linda Parker Cheeves of Macon, a son Robert L. Cheeves, Jr. of Milledgeville and several cousins.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Moores Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorial contribution may be made to American Cancer Society. Moores Funeral Home & Crematory has charge of arrangements.
