Robert Scott “Bob” Fox, M.D., of Lincoln, passed to his heavenly home on his birthday, Monday, February 4, 2019 at Bryan Medical Center West in Lincoln at the age of 75 years. He was born in Grand Island, NE, February 4, 1944, to Robert Joseph and Loraine (Scott) Fox.

At a young age his family moved to Omaha while his father attended Creighton Medical School. After graduation, the family moved to Spalding, Nebraska where his father practiced family medicine for many years. Bob graduated from Spalding Academy in 1962 and from Creighton University with a Bachelor’s Degree.

He received his Doctor of Medicine in 1970 from Creighton Medical School. His passion was medicine. His medical career started in Nebraska and took him to Lake Tahoe in California and to Seward, Alaska before he returned to Nebraska.

He spent the last few years of his career as a volunteer physician and preceptor for medical students at the Peoples City Mission Medical Clinic in Lincoln. His years at the City Mission Medical Clinic were very rewarding for him. “Doc Bob”, as he was affectionately known, enjoyed helping the patients and appreciated the wonderful clinic staff and medical students who were so dedicated and concerned about the welfare of the clients being served.

He was loved and respected by staff, students and patients. Bob’s hobbies included photography, reading science fiction books, everything about space, and keeping up with medical advances. As a boy, he developed an interest in meteorology and was fascinated with weather events which included making predictions and being a storm chaser.

He enjoyed running and was proud of the 50-mile run/walk national record that he set in 1963 which was completed in 9 hours, 58 minutes and 30 seconds. Bob and Mary Ann first met in 1986 and stayed in contact over the years. Bob returned to Nebraska in 2007 to spend more time with Mary Ann and help with the care of her mother until her passing in 2009.

Mary Ann and Bob spent many loving years together and made their home in Lincoln, NE. Together they enjoyed spending time with family and friends, traveling, going to movies and lake life at Capital Beach. They were active in the Friend Congregational Church community and Friend Historical Society.

Bob and Mary Ann liked spending time with Daisy (their cat) who was Bob’s constant companion and, of course, they were avid fans of “Big Red” football. Bob is survived by his soulmate Mary Ann Losh, brother Patrick Fox, sisters Kay Raheja, Jean Manion, Chris Mazour and their spouses, several nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.
