Obituary for Robert “Wayne” Smith RICHMOND, Ind. – Robert “Wayne” Smith, age 62, of Richmond, Indiana, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at Reid Health. Born July 10, 1956, in Lapeer, Michigan, to William and Mary Ellen Calkins Smith, Wayne moved to Richmond in 2010.

He graduated from Lapeer High School. Wayne retired from General Motors in 2008, after 30 years of service. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church.

Wayne was known for his very soft-spoken, gentle ways, which he shared with everyone. Survivors include his wife, Linda Maxwell Smith, to whom he was married July 20, 2012; sons, Derek (Donnell) Smith of Lapeer and Nathan Smith of Port St. Lucie, Florida; stepsons, Mitchell (Shari) Wright of Richmond, Brian (Sandy) Wright of New Castle, Indiana, and Scott (Yvonne) Wright of Burlington, North Carolina; four grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter; parents, William and Mary Ellen Smith of Richmond; brothers, Steven Smith of Lapeer and David Brian Smith of Richmond; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends. Visitation for Robert “Wayne” Smith will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 20, 2018, at Bible Baptist Church, 4274 U.S. 27 North, Richmond with Pastor Fletcher Callahan officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: Bible Baptist Church, P.O. Box 604, Richmond, IN 47375.
