Robert William Becker, 80, of Marietta, died Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Marietta Memorial Hospital. Bob was born August 24, 1938 in Marietta to William and Grace {Kehl} Becker. He graduated from Marietta High School in 1956 and from Perdue University in 1960 and received his Master’s of Education from Athens.

He was a U.S. Army veteran who served in the Philippines from 1962 to 1965. He married Linda Moshier on November 24, 1965. He was a teacher, football coach and principal for Marietta City Schools.

He was a member of Norwood United Methodist Church, American Legion Post 64 and the NRA. He officiated for baseball and wrestling and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Bob will be deeply missed by his wife Linda and his sister Frances (Jerry) Sprague; nephews William (Lucila) Blanchard and Thomas (Jessie) Blanchard; brother-in-law Robert Blanchard; and many great nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Marvin and Wilford; sister Carolyn Blanchard.

Friends may call Wednesday, January 23rd from 4 to 8 p.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-East Lawn Chapel, 27880 St. Rt. 7, Marietta. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Brian Weber officiating.

Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Park, where military rites will be held. Online tributes may be made at www. RobertsFuneralHome.com.
