Obituary for Robin Lowe “Eddie” Barton Robin Barton, 75 of Hurricane, known as Eddie to his friends, left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday April 21, 2018 from cardiac arrest Eddie was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Born on February 10, 1943, he grew up in Charleston and graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1961. He later received two degrees in building technology from West Virginia State College, which later became a university.
He retired from the West Virginia Division of Highways, Materials Control Division after 43 years of service. A self-taught musician, he played drums in rock and roll, country, and gospel bands for years, two being the Tempo’s and Country Morning, and ending his career in music with The Redeemers Gospel Quartet. He loved to hunt and fish, but was just as happy being in the mountains, sitting under a tree, watching the wildlife and enjoying the beauty of West Virginia.
Eddie was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Charleston, where he was a deacon, then an usher. He married the love of his life, Penny in September of 1983, and through that marriage, gained a loving son. Leaving behind to carry on are his loving wife, Penny; beloved sons and daughters-in-law, Jason Barton, Dana and Cindy Barton and David and Melanie Gibson; adoring grandchildren, DJ, Cody, Samantha, Tiffany, Emily, Charlie, and Tabitha; wonderful great-grandchildren, Seanacie, Ava, Andy, Amyah, Mallorie, Mayscie, Carter, Illiana, Adilynn, Brantley, Braylin, and Andi; sisters, Sue Mitchell, and Tina Juzwik; and brother Tim Barton.
Funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane with Rev. Dr. Archie Snedegar officiating. A short graveside will be held shortly afterwards in Forest Memorial Park, Milton.
