Roger A. Ballard, 77, of Macomb, formerly of East Peoria passed away at 10:50 p.m. Sunday, October 21, 2018 at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb. He was born on December 24, 1940 in Macomb to Herbert and Velma L. Demoss Ballard. He married Marsha Doran on August 17, 1968.

She passed away on January 6, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents and an infant son, Roger Alan Ballard. He was survived by several cousins.

Roger lived in East Peoria and worked at Caterpillar in Peoria for many years. He loved trivia, traveling, movies and stage plays. Roger said he was a self-proclaimed cornucopia of useless knowledge.

Roger was a long time friend of Bill Wilson, co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous and was proud of being sober for 38 years. Roger was a Navy veteran serving on the US destroyer Radford. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb where full military rites will be conducted by the Macomb American Legion and Macomb VFW.

Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb. Memorials may be made to AA in Peoria or Industry Assembly of God Church.
