Obituary for Roger Lee Hart Sr. Roger Lee Hart, Sr., 69, of Swannanoa, entered into eternal life on December 27, 2018 due to lung cancer. Mr. Hart was born March 5, 1949 in Buncombe County to the late Ernest and Genivie Hart. Roger was a dedicated worker for Chase Samaritan Place/Stroupes Rest Home for 35 years where he shared the gospel of Jesus Christ with his patients.
He found peace and comfort in the great outdoors hunting and fishing. Roger had a loving heart for kids which let the kid in him come out to play. Through child care in his home, many have called him Palpaw.
In his compassion for kids, he gave often to St. Jude Children’s Hospital. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, John Hart. He was a loving husband to Martha King Hart; the father of Roger Lee Hart, Jr. and Jennifer Lynn Hart; the grandfather of Leah and Kacey Hart; and the brother of Virgil, Fred, Frank, Jerry and Steve Hart.
A celebration of life service will be held Friday, January 4, 2019 at 6:00pm Swannanoa Church of God with Rev. Robert Haynie officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.
