Ronald Forest Akin of Killbuck, Ohio passed away at the Cleveland Clinic on Thursday, October 19, 2018 after an extended illness. He was born on March 14, 1947 to William R. and Madeline (Garver) Akin in Millersburg, Ohio. He graduated with the first graduation class of West Holmes High School in 1965.

He was a Dairy Farmer most of his life. He was very successful in hunting and trapping. He loved to watch big game hunting videos when he could no longer hunt.

He had a lifelong hobby of collecting pictures of Navy Battleships and spent many hours putting them in albums. His favorite football team was the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was able to watch the Steelers beat the Cincinnati Bengals which brought him great joy.

He read many books, some about dinosaurs and could name any species that you asked about. Although he did not have any children of his own he loved little children. He loved to tell jokes and make people smile.

He took great joy in giving local businesses flowers to brighten their day. He is survived by sisters, Jeanne (Larry) Phillips of Danville, Ohio and Linda (Ronald) Harford of Killbuck, Ohio; nieces, Nickie (Rick) Moore of Columbus, Beverly Ackeret of Chicago; nephews, Bryan (Jackie) Presley of Mt Vernon, Rusty (Julie) Presley of Danville, Chad (Robyn) Harford of Millersburg, Corey Harford of Killbuck, Steven Ackeret of Wilmington Delaware, and Jim Ackeret of California; and many great nephews and great nieces. Preceding in in death were his parents; sister, Eileen Ackeret of Wilmington, Delaware; and nephew, Ed Ackeret of Covington, Kentucky.

A heartfelt thank you to all of the healthcare providers, neighbors, family and friends that helped him along in this journey. He will be greatly missed. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wolf Creek/Pleasant Valley Cemetery with Pastor John Damron officiating.
