Life’s Reflections of Brother Ronald Jefferson Williams, Sr. Ronald Jefferson Williams, Sr. was the third child of seven, born to Percy Williams, Sr. and Tiny Louis (Blanchard) Williams on October 2, 1935. Ronald, “Ronnie”, “Shotgun”, “102”, “Paw Paw”, “Uncle”. As he was affectively called attended Stowe School, Northeast Junior High School and Sumner High School, graduating with the Class of 1953.
Brother Williams during his schooling, was employed at Plaza Board and Melborn Country Golf Club for years. His employment led him to become head-custodian with the Kansas City Kansas School Board of Education, retiring in 1996, with the Kansas City, Kansas School Board of Education, after thirty-five years as custodian at Sumner High School. He loved keeping his year groomed, Bar-B-quring and his love of bowling.
He was an avid bowler, which was his second love. You could always find him rolling his big Black Big Ball down the lanes at the old KC Bowling Alley on 5th Street where is was always on the winning team, Melody Lanes and Rhythm Lanes in Kansas City, Missouri, or wherever he could find a bowling alley, always being on the first-place teams. The KC Bowling Alley is where he fell in love with his present wife, Laura Boggans on August 29, 1964.
To this union, two sons, Rodney Dexter and James Vincent Williams were born, one son, by a previous marriage, Ronald Jefferson Williams, Jr. As Sister Williams, was involved with the churchs; he united with Strangers Rest Baptist Church on November 7, 1999, under the leadership of Pastor Jimmie L. Banks. Brother Williams loved God and his church and attended church faithfully and contributed regularly in his giving’s and special offerings at the church he would say,” I’ve got to figure out how I am going to pay”. Whatever the church was asking for.
On Saturday evenings he would say to his wife; “I wonder what Jimmie going to preach about tomorrow”. His wife would turn to him and say, “You will have to go to church to see”. Brother William loved God, his family, sons, grandchildren, great-grandbabies, brothers, sisters, in-laws and church family.
He was a giver of love and assisting others, never asking to receive. Shotgun, 102 was a great CB’er (Citizen Band Radio Operator) which was at one time his favored pass time. He was a person who believed in God and being fair in everything he did.
When family members ask for advice; he would give them his advice and say to them, “Now you can take it or leave it” or “now this is what I would do”. Brother Williams was always willing to give of himself when needed. He was a fair individual who, truly loved God.
He was a faithful servant, serving him until his later years when his health began to fail. Brother Williams went to be with his maker whom he loved dearly on March 18, 2019 He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Percy Williams, Jr.; two sisters, Deloris Yvonne Williams; Joan L. Davis; one sister-in-law, Bobbi Williams; one brother- in-law, William Davis; and close friends, Peter Forbes and Joe Jennings. Brother Williams will be sorely missed by his faithful and devoted wife, Sis Laura B. Williams; his three sons, Ronald J. Williams, Jr. (Jackie) of Memphis, Tennessee; Rodney Dexter Williams (Cassie J.) of Kansas City, Kansas; and James Vincent Williams, Sr. of Kansas City, Kansas; one brothers, Van Dexter Williams (Delores) of Kansas City, Kansas; two sisters, Barbara Eady of Florida and Jacqueline Roe of Hazelwood, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Ashley; Danielle; James V. Jr.; Stephanie; Aronia; Javonn and Jowann V.; a host of great-great grandchildren; close friends Randy George and Alvin Moberly; many beloved relatives and friends.
Brother Williams will be sorely missed by those he loved so dear.
